I have both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and used math in my job daily as an Engineer with GE Power Systems. After moving to the West Coast, I got involved in Math Assessment Test development and have written math assessment items for standardized tests to Common Core and individual state standards for 20 years. That development work evolved into also writing for Science Assessment tests and corporate advancement tests. About 10 years ago, I started working for an online tutoring company where I was certified to tutor Elementary Math, Middle School Math, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. I have worked with tutoring students as young as Kindergarten all the way up through returning adult students at the college level.  

I started Math-Boost in 2020 as a way to support local students during Remote Learning.  In my experience, individualized online learning can be a place where kids feel safe saying they “don’t get it” until they really do. I believe in strong foundations and helping students get over that hurdle of understanding. I also have a passion for Algebra in particular as I have tutored Calculus many times and found that most people struggle with the algebraic concepts that are at the heart of all higher level math.
