I do not assign or track homework. While I do occasionally suggest materials or worksheets for extra support, they are suggestions, and any follow-through on them is the student's responsibility. I see myself as a Math Coach, there to support students with their existing homework and curriculum. It's important to me that students have the time and energy to focus on the work they already have.
I do not prepare students for Highly Capable Program Testing.
While I may use "typical problems/reviews" from files I have accumulated over time, I do not distribute these materials. Students should feel that any files shared with me will stay with me. I can also delete files upon request (eg. student tests). Instead I may distribute materials that are public (through subscription websites or available on the internet).
Without prior notice, I will wait 15 minutes after the start of a session for a student to arrive. After that, the session is forfeited. I will not be available after the 15 minute mark to start a session as I will move on to make the best use of my time. If you miss three sessions with no prior notice, you may forfeit your time slot. Any emails to let me know you are having trouble logging in are appreciated.
I respectfully ask for as much notice as possible, at least 48 hours, if a student is going to miss a session. There are times when I have a student looking for an extra time slot because of illness or for test prep and I can use an open slot. I understand that illness often happens last minute, and in that case I will work to help find a make-up slot given enough time. I generally do not hold sessions on Fridays, so Fridays may be offered for make-ups, but I need at least 48 hours notice for scheduling. Last minute cancellations (within 48 hours) will be forfeited sessions as I cannot fill that hour with another student.
The monthly sign-ups are designed to help adjust to busy student schedules. However, I usually have a waiting list and cannot save an open time slot. If you choose to drop your slot, you can join the waiting list. With as much notice as possible, I can look at the schedule and suggest changes depending on availability.
